Dreame publishes 7 of the 7 specifications we track for this model, which is more than most. Everything below is quoted from Dreame’s own material, with the page it came from linked on each row. We have not handled this machine.
The X40 Ultra's real feature is that the mop pads come off entirely at the dock rather than merely lifting. Every published lift height in this comparison sits between 10mm and 17mm, and none of them clears a deep pile — a pad that is not on the robot at all is the only version of mop lifting that is unconditional.
The counterweight is the climb. Dreame's own model comparison puts this generation's obstacle clearing at 22mm, which is mid-pack and well below both the L40s and the X50. It is a machine for a carpet-heavy home with flat transitions, and a poor match for an older house with real sills.

What the sheet says it does well, and what it does not
Strengths

- Large dock footprint for the mop-washing hardware
Who it is for

Who should skip it
Your thresholds are tall. Dreame's own comparison puts this generation's obstacle climbing at 22mm.
Where we recommend it
How we assessed this
By reading what Dreame publishes and recording it with its source. We have never owned, handled or measured this machine, and nothing above is written as though we had. Where the manufacturer publishes nothing, the row says so rather than borrowing a number from somewhere else. The full method is on how we pick, and if a figure here does not match the page it links to, tell us and we will correct it with a date.
Questions people actually ask
+ Does Dreame publish a threshold climb height for the Dreame X40 Ultra?
Yes — 22mm (0.87in). Stated by Dreame in its own model comparison, not on the product listing. Compare it against every other model on the cross-brand climb table.
+ What suction does the Dreame X40 Ultra have?
Dreame states 12,000 Pa. Remember that pascal ratings are not standardized between manufacturers, so that figure ranks this model within Dreame's own range and does not compare across brands — the full explanation.
+ Is the Dreame X40 Ultra good for pet hair?
Its main brush is described as liftable brushes with an extending side brush, which is the specification that matters most in a hair-heavy house — more than suction. The brush comparison sets out what each design does.
+ Can the Dreame X40 Ultra mop over carpet?
Dreame states a mop lift of Removable, plus a stated 10.5mm raise. Dreame quotes the height difference before and after mop lifting as 10.5mm; the pads can also be dropped at the dock entirely. Compare that against your own pile depth rather than against other models — mop lift compared.
+ Who should skip the Dreame X40 Ultra?
Your thresholds are tall. Dreame's own comparison puts this generation's obstacle climbing at 22mm.
