On a mixed floor the cleaning is easy and the boundary is hard. What decides a good machine is whether the mop clears your pile, whether the robot can climb onto the rug at all, and whether it detects carpet before it arrives rather than after. Published lifts run 10mm to 17mm.
Most homes are mixed. Hard floor through the hall and kitchen, carpet in the bedrooms, a rug or two in the living room. Yet almost every roundup in this category is written as though you have one surface, which is why so much of the advice stops being useful the moment the robot reaches a threshold strip.

Problem one: the mop has to get out of the way
This is the failure people regret most, because the damage is to the carpet rather than the robot. A wet pad dragged onto a rug leaves it damp, and a rug that stays damp under furniture in a warm room does not stay clean for long.

Compare those against your own carpet rather than against each other. A flat-weave runner is 4mm to 8mm and any published lift clears it. Typical fitted carpet is 8mm to 15mm, where a 10mm lift is marginal and 17mm is comfortable. Deep pile is 20mm and up, which no published lift clears.
Two designs sidestep the number entirely, and on a mixed floor they are worth more than the millimeters suggest. iRobot retracts the pad onto the top of the robot, so it is not in the floor plane at all and the machine can vacuum and mop in one pass without routing around anything. Problem two: getting onto the rug at all
A bound or taped rug edge is a small vertical step, and a rug over an underlay stacks two of them. If the robot cannot climb it, it does not merely skip the rug — it nudges the rug across the floor on every attempt, and you come home to a bunched rug and a robot that reported itself stuck.

Problem three: when the robot notices
Carpet detection works one of two ways, and on a mixed floor the difference is not academic. Sensing the load on the brush motor is reliable and it happens after the robot has already driven onto the carpet — which, with a wet pad down, is one pass too late. Sensing the surface ahead lets the robot lift or avoid before it arrives.
Nobody publishes a specification for this, so it is not in the tables above. What you can do is check whether the app offers a mop-only exclusion zone, which achieves the same outcome deterministically: the robot still vacuums the rug, and it arrives without the pad. It publishes a mop lift, which is more than several rivals manage, and on a flat hard floor it is a good machine at a fair price. On a mixed floor it is the wrong buy for a specific reason: 10mm is the lowest published lift in this comparison, and Roborock states no climb height for it at all. A mixed floor asks exactly two questions of a robot — can it get onto the rug, and can it keep the mop off it — and this model answers one of them with the weakest number on file and the other not at all.

Measure your deepest pile and your tallest rug edge before you compare anything else, then buy a machine whose published figures clear both with margin. If your carpet is deeper than any published lift, buy a design that removes the pad from the floor entirely rather than one that raises it. And whatever you buy, set a mop-only exclusion on anything you would be upset to find damp — it takes a minute and it does not depend on a number you cannot verify.
